Semis are about 5% of all registered vehicles in the US and they generally already avoid major cities during rush hour because it adds time to their trip. So if you can't understand how stupid it would be to add a lane just for them to the roughly 50,000 miles of interstate in this country, you're beyond help.

In a time long ago I had a CDL and can't believe trucks still share the road with cars. I have no negative thoughts toward them when I'm on the road, they're just doing their job, but they are dangerous to cars.

The interstates were built for inter-state commerce.

Tractor trailers belong there. Cars are just tourists.

I think at some point they are supposed to do that on I75 between Macon and Atlanta. I'm not sure when they will start, possibly before 2030

Where I live, if an interstate is three or more lanes there *are* semi restrictions.

Also, there is a minimum posted speed on the interstates... most of what I travel is 70/45.

I like food and two day shipping, so I'll happily share the roads with semis.

Do you even listen to yourself? "Hey let's just build an entirely new interstate system next to the old one (damn near impossible and astronomically expensive) because sometimes I'm inconvenienced by inconsiderate semi-drivers."

I'm sure you can just snap your fingers

Why not an interstate lane for just cars then? What happens when one truck is going slow, the others cannot pass? You do realize everything you buy in a store comes from an 18 wheeler, right?

Would you like to be able to merge onto the interstate? Bad idea.

You clearly don't drive on the interstate every day. I'm on the road everyday from fort collins to denver and they are more than 5%

While you're at it, please give percentages of accidents with trucks involved

Sidenote: When you have absolutely nothing to on a weekday night venture out on I-10 to the La.415 intersection , just west of beautiful Port Allen, at 2 AM.

There are two truck stops there that are completely full of semis.

Since they are full 18 wheelers are parking on the shoulders of all four on/off ramps.

A weird sight to see.

They camp because they were never taught the actual reason for the left lane in the first place.
I thought those people did that to stick it to the white man. It's usually always dem who drive in the left lane like it's the slow lane.

Because interstates were primarily built to move commerce and military. You and your wishes were an afterthought. 18-wheelers have more right to be there than you do.

We'll eventually get to a point when self-driving trucks carry the majority of the loads, can't get here soon enough.

I have much more disdain sharing the interstate with most people in cars, than with 18 wheelers

LMAO, tell me you don't know how traffic works without telling me you don't know how traffic works.

So you'd like to restrict trucks to the right lane only with no passing???

How do you expect to get onto and off the interstate when there's an endless line of trucks bumper to bumper????

It's the dipshits in commuter cars who cause the vast majority of the accidents and are truly the dangers on the roadway.

Yes the big trucks can cause more damage but the small cars causing the wrecks are the true issue.

Didn't see as many issues when cars were off the road during covid, funny how that works. You'd think the trucks would have been playing bumper cars with each other considering they are so dangerous.

Didn’t they create the interstate system for big trucks?
