Is this your first time reading about KKK?

The country appeared to be slowly unraveling at that point in time.

In terms of the sacrifice they made for this country due to WWII and Korea, yes.
The KKK then, as now, was full of trash.

Can u get it on tape or put it though a reader program

Which is why I laugh when people talk about this being "the most polarized time in our history." Not even close.

It is.. apples and oranges.

Good news is there are a lot fewer of them now and being a member isn't viewed as something to be proud of.

True, but leaving it at that gives a lot of people a free pass.
The Klan was trash, but they were the muscle of the white power structure in the South. "Decent" people weren't in the Klan, but they looked the other way while the Klan went about its business. The police didn't investigate Klan crimes, DA's didn't prosecute, and when the rare case came to trial, juries didn't convict.
Say what you like about LBJ, but he broke the Klan by turning the FBI loose on them, despite J. Edger Hoover's noted lack of enthusiasm for the task.

Not for the most part. Police officers and deputies, yes. Not lawyers, judges and businessmen, ordinarily. "Respectable" people favored the White Citizens Councils, where they could advance the cause of segregation without getting their hands dirty. That was for the blue collar types in the Klan.
ETA: what I'm saying is someone's not being in the Klan during that time doesn't necessarily mean they weren't complicit to some degree. Particularly if they were in a position of influence or authority. Those who bucked the system were few and far between. Most approved, or at least went along.

I'm just really hoping this is not the first reading of all the evil atrocities use to commit. They were a horrible organization. I can not think of one redeeming factor for them

Had a fella on here, I can't recall his name, tell me that his Grandma told him, "but the Klan did some good stuff, too" .
I have no doubt that on occasion, some members of the SS would help old ladies across the street. That changes nothing.
The KKK was comprised of the low-bred, ignorant, and cowardly. Those that went along with their actions were just as weak and spineless.

Our country fricking split into two once... I think we'll survive the Tea Party

Yep.
If they would just allow prayer back in our public schools, things would be great again like they were back then.
