There’s alway new viruses that come through and the ones we have that cycle usually change. Nurse I understand what a novel virus is, it's an emerging virus. And i didn't say necessarily it was "like a cold" I said it's technically a flu like virus. There's 100s of viruses out there that impact humans, and this isn't the first time an emerging virus has hit the U.S. Some scientist I've read theorize we technically always have new "novel viruses" entering our communities.

I am not at all downplaying, contrary to what some may think. I'm just saying we shouldn't shut down the economy and completely panic over it. When it's all said and done, it's a virus and I feel pretty confident at the end won't be any more dangerous here in U.S than any other type virus.

Take the same precautions we always do, like with the flu or stomach bug. I'm a medic and the shifts I'm on the ambulance I wear gloves and if I'm sick I wear a mask, especially with elderly people.

It's probably been here since December. Some scientists studying this I heard on the radio were saying it was probably already at peak levels by the time the public was even aware of the name coronovirus. Obviously that's not gonna be known for sure though.

Well they are all problems, all viruses are. Any virus is extremely contagious, millions of us get them every year and millions get them multiple times a year. Older people should take precautions and we should all take precautions when we are around older people.

If all the people that will have serious illness due to this present to the hospital all at once... the healthcare system is frickED. We simply do NOT have enough intensive care beds, equipment, and staff to deal with it. You also have to remember that most ICUs this time of year are already almost at maximum capacity due to normal respiratory season.


If you overwhelm the healthcare system all at once with this...it impacts us all and not just those at risk with COVID-19. If you are in an accident and need ICU care...where are you gonna go if every ICU bed is full of COVID-19 patients.

That's what we are trying to prevent.

The media only has itself to blame.

I’m surprised there is anyone left alive to get this virus after WWIII with Iran.
