Isn't this definitely worse than the 100 year flood for everyone?

Blue means a flood zone...this is not a predictor of what will flood this time.

Sadly, yes

I'm at over 250 feet and I have flood insurance.

I'm in Gonzales and the water has dropped 3 inches from this morning. If my house hasn't flooded, am I in the clear?

Bogue Falaya crested at 9.2 at Boston St, on the way back down now. Gauge at Camp Covington is back below flood stage already. They didn't get as much rain in that watershed as some places.

There's lots of properties in central that aren't in the FEMA flood zone but have taken on 5' of water today. Those homes have never flooded before and Most did not buy the optional flood insurance.
They're fricked.

Here. Just bought a house there recently, Zone X. Mortgage company still required flood insurance. I'm so thankful they did.

7.8 ft in Springfield a couple of miles from the Tickfaw and Natalbany Rivers. Some kind of way I haven't gotten any water in my yard. This is weird because in March I was knee deep. Can't figure out why I don't have water. I'm hoping it stays that way though.

In March we had over a week of south winds that blew water in from the gulf. Before the first drop of rain fell in March the water at my house was at the top of my bulkhead. That is the difference between that event and this one...

Got more water than March 2 to 3 ft in two hours. I'm going to go under water

After the massive devastation in Ascension from the much-remembered 1983 storm, the parish built a levee and pump system, but designed it with the 14.6 foot level seen at Port Vincent that record-breaking year.
The NWS is forecasting the river to get above that level Sunday afternoon on the way to 16.1 feet, which could mean the water overtopping the levee and flowing to the pump station, potentially overwhelming the system. This in turn could lead to significant flooding in the southern part of the parish, including Gonzales and parts of Sorrento, explained Bill Roux, director of drainage in Ascension Parish.
