I realized a couple weeks ago how sad our high school math was by my 12 year olds act scores.. was 35th percentile nationally but 55th in Louisiana..

My unofficial metric on North being smarter than South is in rap lyrics. Rappers normally come from impoverished areas in their regions which normally have the lowest performing schools.
Northern rappers have a larger vocabulary whereas a Southern rapper's vocabulary consists of 100 variations of "uuuuhhhhhhnnn"

Can someone who doesn't have a full workload today do a simple regression of the 50 states - composite score as published above vs. demographics? Use basic XLS statistics package to show if there is any correlation and which (if any) of the variables are significant. Suggested independent variables: %white, %black, %latino, %asian, %other Also, perhaps consider another independent variable: %english as second language

Without reading this entire thread, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that:
1. Everyone points out the demographics of the higher ranked states as an excuse
2. People from MA are stupid based on anecdotal evidence
3. A lot of southern butthurt
