Trazedone.... It worked for me.

Takes about 30 min to an hour to kick in depending.... and when it does, I just close my eyes and it's over.

I've always had a hard time relaxing deep enough to fall asleep. I'm guessing it started in my early 30's. Toss and turn forever.

Then baseball season would come and it would be brutal. Finally sometime around 2011-2012 a doctor prescribed Trazedone and now I take one every night around the time I'm ready to get in bed and .....

Now I sleep.... I'm still up every morning at an early time but, I fall asleep. Trazedone was exactly what I needed and it's non-narcotic.

I haven't used an alarm clock or slept until 0700 for years. This AM I slept in and got up at 04:30. My usual wake up time is about 04:00..

I have no trouble falling asleep. My problem is I wake up and cannot go back to sleep and lay there for hours.

Can you fall asleep normally without it?

That’s condescending? It’s an objective fact, you seem defensive

thats me..the only time I ever set my alarm is when I have to get up early to go fishing or hunting.

I dont even have a clock in my room.....my phone stays on the night stand, but I dont even check it when I wake up during the night....I look at the shutters and if it's still dark I go back to sleep...if the sun is piercing through I get up.

The garbage truck passes 3 times a week so when I hear them coming down the street that usually tells me it's about time to get up..even though it's still dark outside sometimes.

It does suck, but hang in there. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it...

yes, but thankfully I had a Dr. who prescribed something less intense (triazolam) and with regular exercise, melatonin and that I have been sleeping for the most part normally. It also really helps that I don't have to be in the office till 9:30 and I live 10 mins away....my insomnia was anxiety induced and I would get anxious about when I had to wake up... setting an alarm for 8 has been huge. I notice that when I skip workouts for a few days and eat like shite the medicine isn't enough

Didn’t you just say you think you sleep better after a drink?

Should have said as good as with no drink.

Anytime I drink more than that I definitely don’t sleep as well.

Look, not trying to argue with you. Just clarifying in my opinion that the amount of alcohol is also important.

I just drink on occasion, but following up any fact with the phrase “crazy concept, I know” is definitely condescending.

You give off a big I think I’m better than you vibe

This is me. I don't really deal with insomnia much, but knowing I have to be awake early for something messes with my sleep horribly. I wake up every 30min-1hr checking the clock.

I've even stopped scheduling morning flights when traveling because I won't sleep the whole night thinking I'm going to miss my alarm and miss my flight.

I work remotely (have an office I go into - just remotely from my coworkers and clients) and my start time is flexible since my clients are west coast anyway. Not having to set an alarm and stress about being at work for 8am has changed my life in more ways than you could imagine.

I stopped taking it after it caused severe mood swings the following day, 4 days in a row.

I refuse to take ambien or xanax personally.

I can take unisom or nyquil and still be up all night.

I just resigned myself to sleeping in 90-120min spurts until I get so exhausted I have no choice but to pass out. I'll sleep for 10-12 hours when that happens, then I start the cycle again. It's torture. Nights are long and lonely. Days are blurry and tired.
