A boss I had.. This was 20 years ago.. Told me this story about his wife. He and his wife were in their late 50s at the time. He actually passed away a few years ago, but at the time he told me his wife had come across some money.. an inheritance or something.. and she wasn't sure what she was going to do with it and had thought about it for about a week.

He used to come in early to work so he could get off at 3 because every weekday he would go to the same bar with the same drinking buddies from 3-5. One day his wife came into the bar to tell him she finally decided what she was going to do with the money. I forget the exact numbers so I am using the numbers I used just for this story, but she said "Okay, instead of putting the whole $50k in one account where it will draw 4%, I am going to open up another account so I can puts $25k in one and $25k in another and that way I will be getting 8%..

Then when he told her that's not how it works she got mad at him for "making her look stupid"..
