With all this construction.....

....can we expect new restaurants? I'd like to see more Mexican restaurants, Tex Mex, and maybe some new SE Asian restaurants. Where are all the workers coming from?

You know the only in thing to do is shite on Baton Rouge and Louisiana as much as possible.

It's Louisiana, they'll find a way to frick it up. Lots different than Huntsville, AL.

Ahh, the semi-regular “industrial boom is coming” announcement a few weeks prior to an election.

Que the “Jazzland” plans to open story any day now for the NOLA folks.

What we need in the larger Louisiana cities (New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette) are new types of jobs that can carry us outside of industrial expansion.

People have been saying this for over 4 decades now.

tRant is probably absorbing a lot of the doom and gloom right now. Because the football team's defensive coordinator has actually given something huge for them to complain about. It's so bad that a competitive high school team could probably put 20+ points on the Tigers right now.

Lesson from a guy who learned it the hard way: Life is what you make of it. You can be a miserable prick anywhere. You can be happy anywhere your needs are met. A lot of people in their 40s and 50s get frustrated with Louisiana because they are watching their children leave for Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, DC, and Nashville right now because there were not enough jobs locally for all of them. That's devastating to see as a parent, so the bitterness is understandable. And in that state of mind, it's hard to see anything positive anywhere.

The report said New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lake Charles have $154 billion worth of industrial projects in the queue. However, about $120.6 billion of that total represents projects that haven’t reached a final investment decision yet.

A key cog in those investment decisions will be carbon capture and renewable electricity. Many of those projects’ profitability will depend on their ability to secure tax credits through the Inflation Reduction Act, and they will be fueled by renewable electricity, which has left Louisiana utility companies scrambling for solar and wind power

Both political sides are confused here

I mean, it is coming. Many of the projects that were listed are a go and funding has been approved even if it hasn’t hit the news cycle yet.

Nice. Now rid the welfare parasites from the city and actually make it a decent place worth living in where you don't have to worry about which areas to avoid. Then some of the LSU stem majors might consider staying in state.

All these medium and large companies are having "record profit years" and expanding while inflation is eating our paychecks up.

Which ones? I want to see Formosa and Gron fuels both kick start soon. I feel like Formosa won't happen until they pick another site, and it will be 3-4 years at least before they start.

They've hired 800+ people, albeit about a year after they thought they'd be fully staffed.

That's not big enough to be a transformational project for Baton Rouge. But it has made a dent. We need more like that.

Between what I know and what I’m hearing from others, CF industries, Formosa, CP-2 and Driftwood are all a go.
