Charities are all scams. Its just a way for doctors wives to throw fundraisers where they dress up and drink champagne
If you want to provide charity set up a tent and hand out jambalaya plates

Any of your legit "Church" charities are the best option. Catholic, Southern Baptist, and even Samaritans Purse to some extent.
I can't speak to all of them but I can say Southern Baptist all goes to relief efforts.
The people who lead those groups are either staff who are paid via other means in the SBC or volunteers. Heck even the things you see like Shower & Laundry trailers, Chainsaw Trailers, feeding units. Lots of that is paid for by churches and associations who build the volunteer teams.

Eight Days of Hope is one I happened to hear the CEO talking on the radio several years back. I checked on them after Hurricane Laura and ended working with their group in Lake Charles.
Seemed like a great group and in it for the right reasons. You never really know though.

If you are going to give to any organization, try this site to see how it rates. If a smaller charity does not show up there, do not be surprised, though. Part of the rating is how they use funds relative to their stated goals. It also

As an example, Samaritans Purse is very highly rated.

And here is a list for Hurricane Helene. Note you will see a lot of United Way local chapters. Those tend to be much better than the national organization at getting the money to the people who need it. I do still avoid the United Way and the Red Cross because the money you give may not actually be earmarked to the disaster you are giving for.
