My wish is that the OT would appreciate teachers more.

"Changing just one person changes their life, the lives of their children, those they have an impact on, and the world around them... it’s never JUST one person." - KB, 2018

Dunn’s not alone in having a summer side hustle. Educators are statistically 30% more likely to have second jobs than non-teachers, and there’s no better time to take on additional work than in the summer when their schedules are open.

quote:

My buddy asked what it’s like to be a teacher and have the summer off. HA jokes on you I had already been at my first job for 2 hours at that point and now I’m chilling at my second job of the day. I work three freaking jobs.

quote:

It’s also expensive to work in education. 94% of U.S. public school teachers report paying out-of-pocket for supplies, spending an average of $479 a year.

quote:

Sullens, who has a master’s degree and is national board-certified, says he earns about $47,000 in base pay a year. He can usually bring in about $200 every few days with Lyft — money he uses to help cover auto bills and medical costs for him and his husband. Last summer, he worked at a religious preschool.

“I wish I could take vacations. I wish I could sit and do nothing during the summer,” he says. “I don’t think teachers are really paid for the value of what they provide for society.”

Wait. I thought that period wasn’t off and there was a lot of seminars and administration/prep stuff to do like lesson plans.

Seem to remember that being an argument (and this is from someone who isn’t a rabid teacher hater)

People really don’t give them enough credit. And remember, this isn’t including the time they put in getting their students to sleep with them.

Teachers throwing out they have a MS or PhD is maddening to me.
Their little bullshite "graduate Degrees" make me laugh.

Not all Degrees are created equal. Some are difficult (STEM) while others are a joke (Education).

This is NOT a line of thinking that boosts my impression of the overrated profession of teaching.

If I made that and could also have the opportunity to take off 2 solid months, I guarantee 47k would work for me just fine. A 2 month vacation per year would make some amazing memories. Granted if you have a family and the expenses that come with it then that is a whole nother ball game. But single with 47k I could budget to avoid working the summer for sure.

Serious question.
Does any other profession bitch about their jobs as much as teachers?

It seems teachers and many other public employees bitch about their jobs non stop.

Don’t like the pay then don’t be a teacher. No one held a gun to the heads of those that decided to be teachers.

There were two constants in life before the internet: death and taxes.

That list has now expanded to death, taxes, teachers bitch about their job, and plant workers lie about how much money they make.

I wonder if the preschool knew of his immoral behavior before they hired the deviant.
