Yea but damn sure will sober you up. There were signs of something bad happening for several years and wife kept warning me at times I’d get angry. Usually I was a chill drunk and was happy but over the years it got worse. I didn’t listen though and stayed drunk in the evenings. Woke up in dead sleep to go piss and and started yelling at wife I’m leaving. All happened while she was trying to hold me down from getting my keys. Sad sad, glad I was able to get out of that kind of life. Rock bottom

the “correct” course of action at this point was to break it off with the hoe and be a better husband. confessing because you feel bad is…wtf? Like you’re not even confessing because you love the hoe more and want to be with her, literally just because you feel bad.

Why should we give this guy pats on the back for blowing up his marriage?
His marriage is toast. He should just put all focus right now on being a good dad at this point. Even though he is a shitty husband he can still aim to be a good father. Those two roles are separate.

Yes. He just wants absolution and to selfishly relieve himself of guilt.
You see similar behavior with drug addicts who are pretending to want to be sober to fix their life but really just are replacing the dopamine response of drugs with attention/adulation from others. It wears off and they slide back.
Drug addicts who get sober have to shed that ego-based mindset and just ask for forgiveness and work to be better...but not for themselves and their self esteem/ego.
