Northshore - Lake Castle Pre K thru 8th
(Very Conservative)
All 3 of our sons, now 28, 30, 32 attended Lake Castle. Totally prepared them for high school Honors classes. They went on to graduate from college ( 2 LSU, 1 UL Lafayette) and landed great jobs.

I’m fighting my wife because I typically don’t like spending more money than I need to.

She went to a sacred heart school in another state
If she’s so hell bent on it, tell her she has to pay the tuition
Is your child in school now? What are the chances of her getting into Sacred Heart? It used to be pretty elite/competitive - not sure if that’s the case anymore

The New Orleans private schools are very expensive. You get more for the money at Newman though, because your kid will be going to school with the kids of the leading families of the city, celebrities, business leaders, etc. It matters.

went to one of the public high schools that is highly regarded on here and a good 50% of the student body were dumb, trashy kids. Many did a lot of drugs and they absolutely pull some of the “better” kids down with them. If I have kids and could afford it, I’d send them to catholic school.
I went to a top private school mentioned on here and the amount of drugs and booze available was crazy. Kids were doing lines in the school bathroom. The girls at some of these Catholic schools mentioned were the biggest ho's around. Most of my class went to LSU, Bama, Ole Miss etc. Imagine spending thousands upon thousands so your kid can get into LSU to get his business degree or if a female, their education degree ??
I agree, don't send your kid to some public in Orleans parish, but the publics in many areas around the country are fine.
I'm in TX now and I'd send my kid to any public in Plano, Frisco, Southlake, Grapevine, etc. Especially if LSU, UT, etc was the goal.

Yes, but doesn't the majority of students come from St Aloysius, St George, Our Lady of Mercy? I know what you mean.
There are all the Catholic schools in surrounding parishes that each has a few kids who end up at Catholic/St Joes, but I am referring to school in Baton Rouge, where parents who are hoping their kids get into Catholic/St Joes. The schools I mentioned above are where they are likely to go right?

My private school class of less than 50 had Harvard, UPenn, UVA, and Vanderbilt and 6 doctors that I can think of off the top of my head

He lives in sulphur and has likely never been there. I don’t want to live in Shreveport either, but there are areas in Shreveport that are nicer than anything in southwest Louisiana.
But he can’t dream for his kids to play baseball at barbe and then be a KA at McNeese if he doesn’t live there

Only about 10% of the students at Newman pay full tuition.

Co-ed or just girls or boys.? Makes a difference
Also, there are several Charter/Magnet schools that blow private schools out of the water and it’s not even close.

My kid's are both in gifted. The older one has a 4.3 GPA at Baton Rouge High. We don't need to pay for a private school.
