I'm guessing Kalunda (not his real name) told you that this afternoon on the patio?

Per capita what percentage of crimes are committed by blacks as they are shot by cops?...there in lies the real issue. They get shot in higher percentages, but also commit crimes in far higher percentages than than they represent in the population as a whole. Crime stops...interaction with the law stops....shootings stop. Capiche?

Yeah, your numbers are way off. Pretty sure I saw today that 1100 Americans in all were killed by police last year. Less than four percent of those were white police killing unarmed African Americans. It was all in the Washington Post.

Well.. that is because they have more whites and hispanics to kill.

You dont measure by cummulative totals but per capita of the demographic.

Statistics don't matter.

The only thing that matters is what CNN/FNC/MSNBC choose as their agenda.

White cops killing black men has been pushed to the forefront of the collective black community because of a ridiculous, race baiting national media.

I don't fault the black community for protesting what the media has set forth to be a problem. I blame the media for the divisive agenda.

In recent history, yes.

More blacks were killed by cops last year then worst year of Jim Crow

This strikes me as implausible. Even with population growth it would surprise me if they had good documented statistics (even the ones today are actually kinda fuzzy because a civilian casualty with police involvement can be recorded in a variety of ways and hasn't been required to be reported to federal agencies who could generate national statistics).

quote:

More cops are killed in line of duty in usa than rest of industrial world combined

Probably true if the industrialized world is Europe, Japan, Canada, Australia, and the US. That's bad, if true and documented reliably, but relative risk is probably the more interesting statistic. Being a police officer in the US is actually less risky than being a cab driver among other professions.

However, I put little weight in that stat as blacks make up a smaller percentage of the overall US population compared to whites and latinos. It's easy to cherry-pick the statistics to paint the story that you want.

quote:

Now it's certainly true that black people represent only 12-13% of the United States population and are twice that rate in the police killings, but according to FBI data in 2014 4,224 black men were arrested and charged with murder in this country. Meanwhile 3,807 white and Hispanic men were arrested and charged with murder. This means blacks were arrested for 51.3% of all murders in 2014 despite the fact that they represent just 12% of the population. Given that the black arrest rate for violent crime also exceeds 27%, black people are actually getting shot and killed less often when they're arrested than white and Hispanic people are.

quote:

So why are we focusing on such a tiny subset of police shootings? I suspect it's because the media has utilized black fear of white racism to increase TV ratings. That same black fear provokes an equally virulent response from white America, which accuses black America of blaming everything on racism. So we swing from one hashtag extreme to the other #blacklivesmatter to #alllivesmatter without most people ever taking the time to examine actual police shooting data.

But by comparison, what's the percentage breakdown of who commits the highest % of crimes?

This is rhetorical.....

It's simply a ccorrelation. A ratio between, location, crime in location, police going to that location. If you have copsresponding responding 30 times to black neighborhoods because of calls Vs being called 5 times to white neighborhoods then the probability goes up for potential incidents. Not sure why some people don't see that
