I read somewhere that most of the fentanyl in the US comes from China.

This is correct. It's made in china and sold to mexican cartels. The cartels mostly switched from weed to heroin. Where's the feds on this? Why is a nation on our border allowed to house and protect drug cartels making billions from Americans? I guess if they had oil in Mexico we'd actually shut shite down

I'm sure they are cashing in in some way, shape or form. It keeps the criminal justice racket going. DA's, attorneys, judges, local law enforcement with asset forfeiture, the prison industrial complex. It's an industry. The war on drugs fuels the industry racket.

Getting it fixed in my viewpoint is giving people the freedom to do what they want with their lives.

Let's double down on the WOD. It's lining all the right pockets and achieving the opposite of what it was sold to do. In DC, that's a good policy.

My brother overdosed on heroin after being being told he could try pain management(which was covered by insurance) or try a surgery with a 33% success rate that would put him and his wife and children in crippling debt. He tried the pain management which lead down that dark path.

He was an IT Guru. Head of IT of a well respected general contractor, and then it all fell apart. You tell me he wasn’t deserving of better options...

Yeah I used to think that way too. Theoretically. Anecdotally. The beauty of thinking that way is it allows you to affect an air of moral superiority. frick those loser junkies. Screw em. And then you see someone you love go from normal to dead in a year and you see the wreckage they leave behind and you have another perspective.

Yeah, ignorance is bliss. And there is a lot of that in this thread.

How Sweet.

I used to think this too. However my cousin was on opioids for a few years then got clean. He said the last thing you want is a junkie to have easy access to the drugs. He said you are basically a zombie.

Is losing thousands of drug addicts per year really a loss?

Spoken by someone who truly as no clue who these addicts are.

So is gambling, and coffee, but you won’t die from any of the 3.

Mexico makes America money

war on drugs creates black market
black market creates criminals
criminals create prisoners
prisoners make money

the government has no interest in decriminalizing anything

look at all the lobbyist against cannabis

why do you think we have to most expensive healthcare?

it's all about the paper. it's not about making people better

The “standard of care” for doctors went from “pain is the fifth vital sign” to “don’t prescribe opiates” in a half second.

It’s what happens when doctors are reimbursed by “patient satisfaction scores” instead of practicing good medicine.

Not too many OD’s when pain meds are prescribed by doctors. When the market is open to heroin, fentanyl, etc, the od numbers go up.

I bet the combination of having illegal marijuana in their systems with these pain medicines was just too much for these overdosees

Whoever came up with that and patient satisfaction scores deserves a 95% of the blame for this, ISO.

Every one of those deaths were someone’s son, daughter, mom, dad, etc. So, yeah. Someone somewhere is devastated because someone they love died from drug use.
