Dumbasses.
I had a 3 year old gank my (non alcoholic) drink once. I just let him. $3 to replace and it made him happy.
Of course he isn't a bad kid.

Imagine what the two year old will be like in 10 years.

10 minutes after they left the kid would've been fine.
Back in the day I got fired from my babysitting job at the gym for telling a mom to go work out because her crying child will be fine when she leaves and I could handle it.
She didn't like that.

We’re screwed as a country. Dad should have spanked that kid and put a stop to the behavior, instead he enabled it. Kid will be a nightmare as a teenager.
We might be screwed. But probably not because of this guy.
Yeah, obviously what he’s doing hasn’t been effective. Congrats OT you nailed it. However, what the guy probably needs is guidance, not to be dragged by the entire internet. Especially in a world that already does enough to shart all over fathers and a world that discourages men from becoming them.

In a few years, this douche will proudly wear his "Girl Dad" t-shirt as the insufferable kunts he's raised wreak havoc on other people's lives.

My kids are just old enough to have spent their early childhoods without smartphones or tablets, and i’m grateful for that. When they first came out, nobody knew the level of brain rot they would cause in kids and society as a whole. We thought they would bring people together, be educational, and help people share ideas. The only problem is there are a lot of dumb people with dumb ideas, and giving them a voice was unhelpful.

FWIW, if you go into the comments on Twitter some did offer advice. And he just kind of blew it off and was like “I’m just trying to get laid”.

Well, that context was not available in this thread, but fair enough. Maybe the dude is simply a tool.
I stand by my point however. Dunking on parents (especially fathers) who aren’t doing the bestest job in the world is too common, meanwhile, the same people will wring their hands about fatherless homes and people’s aversion to starting families.

Well, the mother is culpable here as well. She’s fully present for all that BS at this point and not doing anything about it either.
But I’m going to be frank, some of this stuff should be common sense. You shouldn’t need a parenting manual to know not to let a 2 year old dictate whether you can go on a date alone with your wife.

Some kids turn out bad no matter how you raise them. I see it all the time.

Thank you. My wife likes to try and sneak away so my toddler doesn’t get upset. I say let her learn to cope with disappointment. Shes always fine within a few minutes anyway.

In 2024, I don’t think there is such a thing as “common sense” when it comes to parenting.
What I mean is that it’s way harder to know what is a correct approach with all of the “information” floating around, compared to 20 years ago when my oldest was that age. The “permissive parenting” literature has taken off recently. So 20 years ago, in my early 20s, yeah I could see myself reading that stuff and thinking that might be a valid approach if I didn’t have any experience or guidance.
I guess I’m willing to give parents of young kids a little grace because, while I consider myself to be a good dad, I know I wasn’t and am not perfect. Maybe that’s just a me problem.

I was a bookworm so i always took a book to dinner when we went out to eat.

Exactly. Unfortunately, common sense isn’t real common in our society today. The parents should have enough sense to know that you shouldn’t enable a bratty child like this.

The kid even needed a drink to escape the parents.

Go to any restaurant in America and you’ll see kids with their faces buried in devices. Total lack of parenting.
At least they shut the hell up that way. Better than these “evolved” parents like the one in the OP who “gentle parent” their kids into being entitled brats who can do whatever they want.
Plus you don’t know what the parenting is like at home and other places. Now if the only time their kids will shut up and/or behave is when you put a screen in front of their faces then yeah that’s a problem

I'm sure there are still the usual types on here who will argue that spanking is never the solution and that this father should have reasoned with his daughter.
