I wouldn't mind living on the ship channel near hackberry, my wife probably wouldn't agree

they're STARTING operations @ 80k+. They pay your fuel expenses. That's all I know. I'm sure the rest of the workforce will be paid handsomely as well.

I think for every "oilfield trash" post on the OT there's 5 "How do I get into the oilfield" post
It's always that they just want to get into O&G too never any specifics about what they want to do in the industry. The janitorial staff at my company technically work in O&G. I think people hear inflated stories about what people earn and assume everyone is making bank who works for an oil related company.

That's why I wouldn't mind it

I have a masters in environmental sciences limited experience with it(just graduated) and a undergrad in biology 5 years of lab work. I am getting crickets as well wtf
If you don't have practical knowledge of the O&G field, you are not going to get much interest
If you want to get in the O&G from the environmental side, you need experience in air permitting, water quality, risk, and HSE.
Lab work don't mean shite. Sorry.
I've been in consulting for almost 8 years and still cannot crack into the O&G field.

You'd make it about a month. Well, I would make it about a month. At the same time, I don't hunt and fish.
then open up a bar to give you something to do when youre not a work.
Get you some cute trashy little college dropout to open and run it during the day and serve plate lunches

Being in the oil & gas industry isn't the perfect job for everyone.
I've been working offshore for a little over 10 years now & I absolutly hate it. I work for a service company as a mudlogger making around 60k a year. I have no schedule what so ever, I'm often gone on jobs for 5 or 6 weeks at a time. I'm offshore on average around 275 days a year. I am married & have a 6 year old son. Since my son was born I have only been home for 2 Christmas's & 1 of his birthdays. I would give anything to find a job where I could make 60k & be at home with my wife & kid every night. Hell I would settle for another offshore job if I could work a set schedule 14 & 14 or 28 & 28.
Anybody wanna help me out?

then why don't you find one? Seems like every time I am talking about something with someone, they're saying Offshore companies are always hiring.

The only thing that's going to change your schedule is you. Then change it. start looking.

Can you cook?

Air and water quality , 1 and 5 years respectively. I don't just work in the lab.

This would be unacceptable to me, I'd be applying for every job on rigzone every day until I found something and if I couldn't find something comparable i'd take a pay cut.

I'll be the 1st to admit that this is completely my fault. When I was a kid I made some pretty stupid decisions & I now have a felony on my record. Most big companies do background checks these days & even though I've been out of trouble & have my shite together for over 10 years now, it's still tough to get past that felony. Like I said, I have nobody to blame for it but myself...
