I'm sure glad BR went into Defcon 3 storm mode again today, shutting down schools again

The Weather Channel and local weather persons have turned the weather forecast into a drama filled skit.
The Weather Channel has a foot soldier in Lafayette for a typical spring storm front, although Jennifer C. is a smoke show.
When I was in school, this was unheard of. We never got out of school for a potential weather event.

Less traffic on streets. Why are you bitching?

News outlets over-hype to drive ratings. More breaking news at 6.

As time changes so do values and culture change. I’m not saying it’s a good thing but it’s how it is.

sometimes I wonder if the people that start these threads actually went to school. 90% of the kids aren't learning shite anyway. They probably lost a day of memorizing some random bullshite that they won't remember 2 weeks from now.

Nothing about weather is certain. You have to act prematurely to be safe when it comes to situations like this. Let’s be glad you aren’t in charge.

Per who exactly? The same people who crashed our economy over wearing a face mask and getting a vaccine that doesn’t work? I’m honestly tired of bureaucratic corporate cubicle risk management dumbasses normalizing things like this. It’s very weird to cancel school over a potential thunderstorm whether you agree or not

FWIW - he’s likely bitching because of not having childcare for the day, not because of what they did or didn’t learn

It’s complete bullshite. Since when did we start closing everything over a cold front blowing through?
Fool me once shame on you
Fool me twice shame on me

Fool me twice shame on me

All of this. All tv need has become untrustworthy propaganda

Honestly, just sounds jealous of the kids if you ask me.
And yes, I believe he (or many like him) would be the first to say how dare they not close things down if anything happened

There is no end if you start going down the dumb “what if” road.

Fate. It could have dropped one on their house.

Not sure what y’all got in Louisiana but the storm that went through Houston early this morning was the most intense storm I’ve ever witnessed. And I’ve rode through many significant hurricanes.
Wind, rain, hail, constant lightening for 20-30 minutes. The sky was a strobe light. Thunder was crazy. It produced a leak in my roof that Harvey failed to cause.
That being said, a few hours after it passed was a beautiful day outside of the constant wind that is still here.
