Look at some of the responses in the thread. Just total delusion about what matters and what doesn't. It's not just the crime and whatever, it's the lack of ambition and forward thinking.
The only delusion I see if from the idiot that thinks no one comes here for anything besides alcohol.

Sick soul, but why has wage growth been particularly stagnant in New Orleans despite being insulated from the recession? Why can't the city figure out a way to foster a better business culture? Folks can blame the Others all they want, but the general attitude of NOLA is likely too laid back and hedonistic too effectuate any change.
Don't forget that the wealthy and ruling class benefits by the holding down of growth. All growth does is challenge their stranglehold on the city.
Old money still very much controls in this city.

Did your wife take the BBC during the course of either night?

I understand why kids with only their GEDs like Lou Pai don't like the city. Not enough working class /blue collar jobs for them. Just service industry. Texas is probably a better fit.

Black people are racists and want to separate themselves. This should not come as a shocker.

Dont ever see a black movie opening weekend. Especially at night.

I'm sorry but did you expect a non-trashy environment at a trashy theater. Also, please do not make a post about souring on new Orleans then refer to the shithole that is Harahan

Attracting no anchor industries outside of the service industry? Sign me up for some of that soul, baw!
New Orleans has always had an exclusive culture regarding business because business means growth and growth means loss of culture.
Take Houston for example. It grew too fast, and it's just one giant highway lacking an identity. I've lived here for three months and all I can tell you about the people who live here is that they like tex mex. Most people who live here aren't born and raised here. The suburbs are like 45 minutes away from the city as opposed to suburbs of new Orleans like Lakeview and Metairie which are 10-25 minutes away. So the people who say they were raised in Houston weren't even actually raised in Houston. It's a soulless, corporate, oil city.

If you've lived there once, you should know where and where not to go by now.
