When Uber first started, it was great. The vehicles were nice. The drivers were locals that typically had other jobs or were in-between jobs and suplementing their income. I wanted to talk to the drivers. It was interesting to learn who they were. I even had a driver who was a pilot from Delta Airlines and she was super nice looking AND picked me up in nice Mercedes 450.

But over the last two years, that has all changed. The taxi driver types I once loathed, middle easterners who didn't speak good English, who had dirty cabs and who seemed intent on filthing up their cab with all kinds of crap on the visors or hanging from the mirrors, they have taken over Uber and Lyft. I travel a lot, so I use this service more than sporadically and see it everywhere. Out of my last ten rides I've had to complain to Uber or Lyft four times about dirty, smelly cars or the drivers taking unnecessary driving risks.

They drive terrible, they don't take care of their cars, and generally, they don't speak English. It's just gotten to be a crappy service. It gets you from point A to point B, but that's about it. Bring on the robots!

Uber in BR has gone down the shitter also.

They had to have lowered the requirements for their cars.

I’ve always had a okay time. I will say my last uber in Orlando English was his second language I told him ten times. “Hey man this is this entrance to the resort. Don’t follow your app” like hell this dude didn’t almost back upon traffic to get there. I was pissed.

I used to drive a lot in New Orleans for both. Both take bigger cuts now, surges are less frequent and lower. It's not worth it for drivers like it used to be. Especially to risk your personal family car. I probably average over $10/hour less than I used to.

I'll drive some for Mardi Gras, but that is because I know my way over and around parades. I hear some stories about drivers coming in for Mardi Gras that can't get around. They forget navigation is useless. I live on the parade tracker apps to see exactly when paths open and close.

Ditto on autonomous cars in general.

Yeah. Took one the other day and had an Avalon with a nice blonde nursing student.

My next ride was a mazda3 that reaked of black and milds (my trigger smell)
I jumped out after a block and switched to Lyft and got a civic with a dude who probably never bathes.

Yeah Baton Rouge Uber was so awesome when it first started. Now the driver is always either some crack head white guy or some ghetto black dude

Uber in BR is fricking miserable these days. In the last month I've had to ask a driver to put out his cigarette (8am on a Sunday and super hungover) and had to almost come to blows over a west African losing his mind at my girlfriend for having the lion king song as a wake up alarm.

Uber has noticeably gone down hill. Also, side note, but is anyone else surprised about how brazen some drivers can be with the ganja? I mean, I'm not going to call the cops on you, but damn some of them are bold picking up randos with the obvious smell lingering.

Driver I had last week going to DFW Airport almost passed by my terminal exit, realized it at the last possible second, jerked hard left, went across the center 4" high divide between the main road and the exit going 65 mph, almost hitting the concrete barrier and came within inches of sideswiping a black SUV that had to take the left sidewalk to avoid being creamed on his right side. I turned that stupid a-hole into Uber.

The wife and I took one a few months ago and the driver had like a 15 yr old Durango with a check engine light on. He also claimed to be from BR but didn't know where the Varsity or Chimes Street was. I've had better experience recently with Lyft.

It’s been that way for awhile up here. The majority of the cars are shitty Camrys with shitty black paint jobs. I usually use cabs unless we need the space for more people since it’s easier and the price difference is negligible. The XL vehicles always have their back seats folded down even though they are hailed specifically for the seating capacity. The SUV option is 2xs the price of the XL, but I always get a very nice Suburban and professional driver in a suit.

I’m ready for my driver to bring me to the club for my 9:45 doubles tennis match and subsequent luncheon.
