Reevaluate your life choices. Don't be an idiot.

Don’t listen to these OT malcontents. You’ll love it. You’re in the right class of people to enjoy it, and you’ll probably end up retiring there. Not only that, there is probably no better place in the country than New Orleans to see a wide range of medical conditions. Probably the entire range.

Anyone have any advice on how to navigate these next four years without getting robbed or shot?

Did you ask your program director what percentage of the students get either robbed or shot at least once before graduating?

If there were fewer of them and more well educated people who gave a damn then we wouldn’t have the problems we have in New Orleans or any big city.

And this is why the problem in NO (and all other major US cities) will never be fixed. People like you completely ignore the problem. You "give a damn" about everything BUT the actual issue at hand.

And you'll never change. Signaling your virtues to your fellow progressives is far more important to you and those like you.

Yet somehow the entire medical school class seems to make it out alive every year

I went to dental school at LSU. The dental school is in a shady at best part of town.

This probably won’t be popular but I commented from Mandeville every day for 4 years. Don’t regret it one bit.

This is incredible. Could satisfy a lot of people’s dark tourism itch to get an insured rental car and drive around in parts like this:

If it hasn't been said already, leave your car doors unlocked, so they don't break your windows.

Moving to NOLA? Just as soon go ahead and go full gangsta and find yourself a nice place on MLK highway/street/Blvd.

This is an absurd question to ask. Wear your medic cross and you will likely be fine.

We are criminals but not war criminals for fricks sake.

Nah, 9mm. They run in herds. You need the quantity over quality.

I thought Louisiana just passed constitutional carry. I carry wherever I go whether it’s legal in that state or not. Especially in Nola. If the criminals all have guns then so will I

Chances are you will want to be in the city for sleep, social life etc.

Warehouse district is pretty good area with a lot of med students / young docs. Westbank nurses can also be lots of fun, just don’t marry one. See Popeye from the westbank video for more details.
