The whole dry/wet cold really does apply to the Rockies - at least in the daytime. I swear 25 with a clear blue sky and some sun on the slopes feels better than an overcast 45 with wind at home.

Kinda

You'll die if you get too cold, so heating is required

You don't technically need to turn on the AC

Yeah, WI/MN/IL got a blanket of wind chills at -50 and down to like -75 on the models for the middle of next week.

Yeah here in Louisville they’re talking about we can have -15 to -20 wind chills on Wednesday. Will almost certainly have a school delay or cancellation as a result.

What does that have to do with the power/gas bill?

My northern fiends say they can’t handle the heat. BS

When it’s 95 I can be on a boat with a cold beer in my hand and it feels great. When it’s -4 you ain’t doing shite

I was in Steamboat over the winter break, and one morning it was -9 with a windchill of -38. I layered up so much that I was sweating on the gondola and nearly froze my balls before getting on a run. Human beings just aren't supposed to live in that kind of weather, at least in winter. The Indians knew to travel south from the mountains during winter.

What makes people choose to live in this shite? Serious question.

Because they spend June, July, and August with highs in the 70s

I'd be afraid to pee outside

Theres like a 30 degree difference outside to inside in summer.

There's a solid 65-70 degree difference in the case of those subzero temperatures. Even with their better insulation, it takes a lot of energy to maintain the inside temperature.

Maybe the cold will keep the murder rate down.

I've been there (downtown) when the temperature was 1 or 2 degrees. Yes, it was cold --- but not to the point where it was brutal, providing you have the right clothes for it.

Now, near the lake, with the wind ... that's a different story.

The hardest part for me was trying to walk on icy roads and sidewalks. I can't tell you how many times I almost lost my grip and balance.

It actually isnt a myth though

You are just wrong as usual

The normal day is spent in the 70s, with peak temp usually being 80 degrees even

If you are heading to a Cubs game in June, bring your light jacket to be safe

How much is the electric, gas, whatever bill for heating per month?

My electric is usually just over $100 a month, gas (my furnace is gas) is usually right at about $50.

My condo never gets cold...I think we basically are warmed by the places around us. If the heat kicks on a couple times a day when it's freezing that's a lot.

I moved to Buffalo for work. It's miserable, I am bolting the minute the next job with my company is open. It cracks me up to see people on TD wish they weren't in LA where there's no snow.

I got in my car the other morning and the temperature was -5. Not even a good city like Chicago either...
