News must be slow for Daily Mail. This video is several years old.

I like how they tell him where he can go to fill out a complaint report and telling him to have a good day..

And the idiot couldn't get the hint that he would be wasting his fricking time..

If you're at the station working, you're on the truck crew. So the entire crew goes out to get groceries so they're all together with the truck in case of a call. Generally they'll run by on the way back from a previous call as well.

At least that's how my cousin's station is run.
So the station is empty whenever they are on a call (or at the grocery store)? No one stays behind?

This would be my assumption.

Once saw an older dude yell at some firefighters at Dorignac's bc they brought the fire engine to buy groceries.
I believe it was based on wasting taxpayer money or something.

Its done because if they get a call they can head that way from the store. If 2-3 firemen are at the local Rouses they would have to head back to the station, get in the truck then head out.

All that wasted time would mean your house burned to the ground instead of just some smoke damage.

I think a jurisdiction lost a lawsuit, because the firefighters were out, and then had to return to the station to get the truck, once the alarm was raised.

Now jurisdictions make them take the truck with them. Same thing for ambulance drivers.

There is usually more than one truck at a station...

Do they not understand firefighters have to live at the fire station so they can respond to calls 24 hours a day? My high school job at a grocery store every Sunday the crew came shopping, and sometimes they would roll the basket to the front and tell us they would be back and respond to a call. Some peoples children.

Are there usually two full truck crews there?

What a miserable life that old guy must have to get so worked up over something so trivial.

Dumbass doesn't realize they shop on the clock in the truck in case a call comes and they can hop in and go!

I wonder if he realizes they work 24 hour shifts

If there are multiple trucks one might be back. Or not. Could be out on a call too.

The point remains that the truck crew always stays together, and always stays with the truck.

Maybe other fire stations have a desk jockey or something they can spare to send out on errands.
