Now think about going in and it was $12 yesterday but $16 today, people would walk out.
That's already happening, right now.
Also, even when I did the pity/guilt tip, half the time they'd have the order wrong anyway. There's zero point with tipping in advance. They frick up your order, get a tip, and you don't even realize it until you get home.
The point of a tip is to reward good service. That's the motivation for them to do a good job. When you tip upfront, they don't even have to try.

That's fine. Your latte is just going to now cost $16 instead of $12.
your terms are acceptable
frick tipping as it is defined today, mandatory coerced tipping isnt tipping, its extortion, to not have your food tampered with

you would think this thread was filled with a bunch of black folks. My my my, how things change.
I don't think this thread is referring to sit down dining. The current problem with tipping culture is going to Starbucks, Jason's Deli, McAllisters and being prompted for a tip when all the employee did was input your order into their system.

I like how people expect u to tip on take out.
All u fricking did, was make the food and put it in a box and bag.
No service, no waiting on me, my gas used to pick up product.

Then don’t participate. No one is holding a gun to your head. You weirdos.

imagine how much servers will complain when they're paid $12 an hour instead of tips.
I think people on this board mistakenly believe they'll get the same level of service from hourly employees as they get from normal servers.
You think you'll still have a friendly experience going to pick up take-out at your local chain restaurant.
What you'll get will be McDonald's/Popeye's level service.
I, for one, can't wait to see all the world star videos in Olive Garden and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Good coffee takes effort & skill to make. This is a bad example of you hate tipping. At worst they deserve $1 each drink

That's exactly what I say to the people expecting a tip in these places. You can get nothing and like it, or work somewhere else.

They had an extra change on my mothers bill at Mexican Restaurant. She was going to leave a cash tip. She checked bill and it was way over. She saw a charge for something but it wasn’t listed as gratuity. It was something else. The girl said that is the tip. My mother told her it didn’t say tip/gratuity. My mother told them she would my be back there. We already leave a tip. Trying to sneak some shite on there under a different name is sneaky. You lost her business. Check your receipts if they even give you one. Lots of places haven’t given me a receipt at drive through even though I ask for one. Scam.

It's going to be grand. I don't eat out often so I don't really care but yeah, worldstar is going to be even more lit.

They can ban you from their business also.

Because they are being an arse about it by putting a:
Would you like to tip: 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%
Thing in my face every time I order.
I'm not going to be guilted into this for every little purchase. Any day now it will be at McDonald's as well.

The underclasses are tired of being working poor. They think they're entitled to the same privileges (iphones, material goods, etc.) as hard working upper middle class and wealthy folks.
This is the result of commies politicizing "living wage" nonsense.

You think someone should be banned for not leaving an optional tip for a service that nobody tipped for 3 years ago?

So, instead of sticking your debit/credit card into the little machine thingy, open up your wallet and pay them in cash, then make sure to count the change they return to you before moving away from the counter for the next customer.
It's a three-win situation-
1) When you pay cash, they can't have that little bastard card-reader screen asking you to select a tip amount.
2) You get to turn the tables on them, so that they aren't the one's shaming you into tipping them when they've never moved from the counter. Now they're the ones getting scrutinized as everyone in line behind you will undoubtedly subconsciously count your change with you since they can't place their order until your transaction is completed at your leisure and you move out of the way.
3) You get the supreme satisfaction and enjoyment of being a rotten old bastard and there's not a damned thing they can do about it.
eta: If you're sitting at a booth or table, and the server took your order and served you AT THE TABLE. Then make good and leave a nice tip. And leave it in CASH so that they don't necessarily have to report it to everyones' favorite bastard uncle - Uncle Sam.

If it was my restaurant and you're an a-hole to one of my servers I'd ban you.

I'm asking you if not leaving a tip for a take-out Subway sandwich is being "an a-hole" in your opinion.

We have been commenting on you being an arse to the server, not on you being a cheapskate.
