Labs are completely overrated as dogs. Generally overweight (more of an owners issue), unnecessarily large, fur shedding mush bags, eat a small fortune monthly, uncoordinated…I don’t hate them, but they are mid tier dogs, not elite level dogs. People that swoon over labs are weird.
Do you also hate America you Nazi PoS?! Labs are sweet, loyal and kind for the most part. They are worth the small fortune a month. Retreivers are the same way.

German shepherds are the best family dog and no one will ever convince me otherwise

Agree. They are your shadow and will hawk you like their life depends on it. One of the best dogs for kids and farms.

Chesapeake Bay Retriever Is my pick

My family had german shepherds growing up and they were amazing. One saved my older brothers life from a snake. Just incredibly smart and loyal
My wife made us get a doodle last year. Yes I know the overpriced popular dog with suburban whites women. He’s great though. No shedding, listens well, very protective of us and the kid. He is now my best friend

This. But damn are they clingy as hell.
At least the owners of those goofy looking labradoodles haven't invaded yet. In sure they are great, but all I can think is they look like some old lady named Beatrice when I see one.

Maybe your lab sucks.
Mine is elite level.

Your GSP needs a sweater in the winter.

Really wish Boxers would get more love. Goofy face with elite body, intellect, and temperament. Perfect dog.

It all depends on the lab. I have had some incredibly athletic, fit labs. They were FCs and AFCs and bred to be that way.
I have a black bitch right now that’s well bred but mush. She is that way because of me not her.

My Godmother had labs on her very large southern farm and I loved them and their companionship let me wander all over the property. They were always outdoor dogs and I will always remember Mac.
I've since known several indoor labs, and a particularly large black obese male was not much of a companion. He even let burglers into his house for a several hour shopping spree.

Every one of the doodles I have ever met has been a flat out retard of a dog.

I don’t know. Mine picks up all my birds I kill then goes home and entertains my kids until they are worn out then comes and cuddles. Pretty nice set up for me

way more honest.
More honest??? You are giving human traits to an animal which is just very weird. Dogs are not angels. Dogs kill more animals than any other animal. And they kill for fun. Hospitals are filled with thousands of dog bites every year. They are violent and nasty animals.

Most people who cant handle dogs either suck at bonding o
Bonding?? All you have to do is feed a dog and he is loyal. He would be loyal to a serial killer if he was fed and not beaten. They are very shallow animals. Most people who prefer dogs over humans are virgins and are socially awkward weirdos. They suck at people skills and waste their energy trying to develop a make believe relationship with a dumb animal. These people are weird.

Dogs experience emotions similar to humans, including the release of Oxytocin which allows them to deeply bond with humans.

Science disagrees with you. Bonding is extremely complex and most of the time, food isnt the reason.

The only dog I’ve never had to train to stay close to me in the woods is a German shepherd.
Took the one I have now on a camping/hunting trip. Tied him to a run and went walking.
15 minutes later, as I’m walking, I hear something running up behind me and it’s him. He wiggled out of his harness and found me because he couldn’t stand seeing me disappear into the woods.

My experience is they have this radius of comfort, and outside of that radius they get anxious. If they get more than a hundred feet away or so, they'll start looking for you. They truly believe their job is to keep you safe.
They'll usually stop every few steps and look back to see where you are.

I have had a couple. Best dog I ever had was a female Scott/Johnson.
Still, they shed quite a lot.
