I'm certain a lot of prospective "Evictees" COULD have paid their rent

...but elected not to.
Blew the money they had on frivolous shyt. Assuming there was going to be some massive bailout or write-off down the line.

847 x 4 = 3388 per month
ETA
Min wage is 7.25 x 40 hours = 290.00 x 4 weeks = 1160 per month
That can’t be right

Not everyone on unemployment makes minimum wage. I’m not sure why that’s such a huge misconception.
I know a lot of hard working, tax paying people with careers and salaries who have 15 year expensive mortgages, because they normally make a lot more than the $540 a week federal unemployment paid.
Anyone who makes over $36,000 a year in Louisiana is losing money on max unemployment. Louisiana unemployment is $222 a week as it’s taxed.

They’re getting ready to extend it anyway.

A husband and wife in LA making max unemployment from federal and state would be getting $6096 per month using your numbers post-tax. That's equal to $73K per year post-tax. The median household income in LA is $47,905 pre-tax.

It will be reduced and have more caveats this time around.
No matter what there will still be a ton of renter evictions and mortgage defaults. We have dug such a hole that is inevitable at this point short of printing money to the point of mass inflation which devalues your 401K and all of your assets. Get ready to work until you die but at least some people got several thousand dollars, some time off, and some new TVs.
Mortgage foreclosure predictions from the companies that track these things and have for years:
quote:
The more likely, mid-level outlook projects foreclosure activity will hit 336,000 homes in Q2 2021. Numbers will increase in all 50 states and at least double in as many as 34 of them.
By region, the mid-level forecast shows foreclosure filings will increase about 80% here in the South, rocketing more than three-fold in the West, and by more than double in the Northeast and Midwest from Q2 2020 to Q2 2021.
In this more-likely scenario, foreclosure filings would at least triple in 14 states, including Colorado, where the number would spike from 1,107 to 5,103 (361%); Massachusetts, where it would rise from 2,512 to 11,228 (347%); and California, where it would jump from 10,566 to 39,793 (277%).
States likely to escape with the least damage in a mid-range scenario include Kentucky, which would see its count stay at 1,358; Maryland, where the number would rise from 5,034 to 7,455 (48%); and New Mexico, where it would increase from 1,129 to 1,685 (49%).

Someone figured out the solution on Twitter
No rent payments
No mortgage payments for landlords
Banks get bailed out by feds

Total unemployment should have been capped at 80% or so of the AWW (average weekly wage calculated over the last 52 weeks). That would have made management much more difficult however and likely produced long delays.

And your buying power decreases as does all of your assets like I said.
The real solution is to let businesses open and we reach herd immunity like Sweden.

I am curious to see how much fraud comes from this. They have already arrested people for making fraudulent business claims. I am sure there will be individuals and even medical offices involved in fraud from all of this. More episodes of American Greed to watch.

The numbers are a little off, you'd be making around $40,600 take home a year on unemployment. That's a 45k a year job for a single person. So an easily liveable salary in LA to do absolutely nothing. I'd take that rt now and never work again. Louisiana workers earn an average $41,260 per year. So about half the state is making more off unemployment.
Shits been going on for months. You could easily cut costs other places. Like gas, or going on your usual vacations, eating out. If you have kids you are getting even more money.
