re: I'm a gun owner - is it really that bad to make a gun registry and require mental screens?

So you morons are ok with requiring a license to drive but not own a deadly weapon. Whatever. Retards gonna retard.
Guess you would be surprised to learn that hundreds of thousands of people drive every day despite having no drivers license. Laws only stop law abiding people, someone intent on killing people is not going to let not having a license for a firearm stop them from stealing one or obtain one by other illegal means. Look how well drug laws have worked to stop people’s access to illegal drugs.

Was the murderer a legal gun owner?
Start from there.
Start from there.

Don't be so dense! I understand that you appear to be very emotional about and rightfully so but, what you're asking is prosecute people for longer periods than that of convicted violent offenders. Does that sound right to you? You have lib cities that refuse to prosecute violent offenders that are habitual.
Get over yourself.

Then you aren’t pro gun rights. The registry and mental screenings will be abused and abused rapidly and repeatedly to deny law abiding citizens their civil rights.

The only possible scenario to end any type of shootings is total confiscation similar to Australia. There are roughly 28 million people in Australia. We have 330 million. There are roughly 82 million registered gun owners and roughly 400 million guns. There is NO CHANCE that will work. However, there are those who continue to beat that drum. A registry won’t work. More laws won’t work. I too am appalled by what happened today, I have children and grand children in school, I don’t want to see them hurt or killed. There is a common thread to all of this, mental illness. If we as a country poured the resources into that, we could certainly lessen the violence. It will never, ever stop. The best we can do if try to fix broken people.

Yes. There is a problem with it. What and who defines “mental illness”?

How many of these school/mass shooters come from fatherless homes?

When leftists claim to be for criminal justice reform, they're lying.

People like you are fricking retarded.
Dumb as frick
Do you really think criminals and mentally deranged people give a F about laws and rules?
You’re only penalizing law abiding citizens. Period.

I know a lot of you are against it because you think it will become something else.
The government politicized a virus for its own gain that has resulted in grave economic, health, and social consequences. It’s a guarantee that they would do the same with any screening and registry.

The gun lobbyist wants you to think that so you will be against anything that might cut the number of sells of guns,
It has nothing to do with the gun lobby. I’m just well versed in world history.

You can't be pro gun and in the same breathe say you think there should be more regulation and government control on gets to have them. That's not how it works.

Judging by your posts, if there were mental screenings to purchase a gun, you probably wouldn’t be able to own one.

Right, and there's scores of convicted felons out there carrying.
We don't enforce the laws on the books and everybody's talking about more fricking laws.
