This. Especially the children part. You can always get a divorce, but once you have Achilles with someone, you are attached to that person for the rest of your life. Proceed with caution.

You should listen to Nurse. Even though she doesn't have any kids as has only been married for 2 years, she knows a lot about a lot.

He is just making it sound like 2 years is such a long time. That he has to make it work because he has invested a whole 2 years of his life in this relationship. In the grand scheme of things...it's just a blip.

I think this is more of a relationship of convenience rather than love of my life but I'm an idealist I guess

34 and 28 means both of y'all are fully matured adults (or should be). 2 years with someone you're not quite sure about when you're 24 is not a big deal. Not too many people are sure of those things at that age. But at 34, if you're still not sure and you feel the need to come to a message board for advice, you're not just unsure. You don't love this woman. Better for both of you to cut and run now. Because at 28 she's probably looking forward to settling down and having a family. Dragging it out any longer so you can be sure isn't fair to her or you. End it.

It's long enough to know if there's a future.
It's not like he's nineteen.

Just saying, I wouldn't be with someone I have any reservations about

I've been saved by the wife being tipsy at certain times, though. She lets a lot more roll off the back when she's had a few.

Yes that is true. But it is still where they are both young and can easily move on and be happy with someone else.

End it and provide the digits so I can console her.
