The one here always has a line out of the door for breakfast. Seems like a great idea to get rid of those customers, and to start surving gross burgers instead. Clears a lot of room in the dining area

This will go over about as well as New Coke did.
Nah...IHOP was a dying brand. This is a hail mary to save it.

I will never understand how the one in BR has customers at it.

They're not going to quit serving breakfast.

IHOP has always served hamburgers. I had one once. It was disgusting and gave me diarrhea.

There was no marketing push to tell customers they are gonna focus more energy on lunch/dinner (diner model). Calling themselves IHOb tells people that they serve burgers now, not pancakes. No one is going to IHOP to eat a burger.
Eta: Seems like they are pulling their corporate guys from the same pool as Applebee's, TGI Friday's, Ruby Tuesday's, etc

You can say this about their whole menu

I went for the first time in years maybe 2 months ago. I will say I was surprised BUT since the bar was pretty much at zero....it had no where to go but up. Me and the same group also went to waffle house and louies all within a few weeks time, they both beat IHOP

No. They have changed signs on restaurants and are moving forward with a new menu. Their sales the past 3 years have been flat so they are trying something new to save the chain. This isn't just a publicity stunt.

IHOP said on Monday that it's temporarily changing its branding because the B stands for burgers.
It's only a marketing campaign. IHOP isn't changing its name. But the chain of breakfast diners took social media by storm last week with the cryptic announcement that it was flipping the lowercase "p" in its logo and making it a "b."
Maybe they'll stick with it if it works out for them though.

It's expensive to change signs for something temporary. Seems like they are saying it's temporary to save face in case it doesn't work out?
Guess we will see but they need a boost or they'll slowly fade away because as I said their sales have been flat for the past 3 years and are regressing.

I think they only physically changed signs at a few key locations to play into the gimmick.

Maybe it's just the ones I've been to, but they've all been good, clean, good service, etc

Not the one in BR on College drive.

I love reading good ol internet fake outrage on a Monday. Honest question for these people - how many years has it been since you there?

This. It's 60 year old well-know brand that all of a sudden is making a radical change in branding. Sadly, this is the death throes of IHOP. The next "big" announcement will be "IHOB (formerly IHOP" files for bankruptcy.
It had a good run.

Is it though? Those places are always packed. Their stock dipped last year, but was coming back up this year.
