Ignorant automotive question

What and how does the number of "liters" effect the power/torque/etc?
In laymans terms, what the frick does "5.0 L" actually mean?!
(Don't hate)

The amount of sugar the motor can handle

Google couldn't answer this?
It's the displacement of the engine, the volume of space that the piston moves in. Like most things, more is better.

metric version of the cubic inches. 5.0l = 302 ci's(old models at least, sometimes it varies an inch or two.)

that's a just a little off. I know you meant cubic inches though

Basicall, that refers to the "size" of the engine....generally, larger = more powerful...

You will see displacement in Liters, or in Cubic Inches (for old school domestics, anyway). For example, a 5.0 Liter is also called a 302. The engine's displacement is 5 liters or 302 Cubic Inches. That is the combined volume of all of the cylinders in the block.

If your automobile engine was a dick. Inches = Liters. More is good but you need to know how to drive it.

5.0 L refers to the size truck nuts the vehicle is rated for.

It's a 305 to me JK, Ford's 5.0 is way better than GM's ever was.
It goes like this in my book:
Ford made the better 5 liter...GM made the better 5.7 liter. The 350 has always been my favorite block. I had a buddy in H.S. with a 72 Cutlas with a Rocket 350...it blew my mind how much torque that freaking thing had.
