Certainly they're not burning 5.0L per "rotation(?)"... Is it a specific measurement that doesn't necessarily mean anything other than how much liquid you could put into it?

when the piston goes down, it sucks an air and fuel mixture into the cylinder. when the piston goes up, it compresses the mixture. at the top, when the mixture is most compressed, the spark plug ignites the compressed gasses, which expand quickly, driving the piston back down and thereby turning the crankshaft and sending power to the wheels. rinse and repeat.
the bigger the cylinder, the more fuel and air is used, and the more power is created. a gallon of gas contains more energy than a thimble of gas.

Larger piston area and/or stroke = more fuel/air in cylinder = bigger 'SPLOSION = VROOM

So the "cylinder" is rated/measured at "5.7L"... Does that mean they're pumping in 5.7 liters per "splosion"?
Seems like you'd go through a tank of gas after like a dozen turns of the crank?

In one cycle of the engine, 5.0L of air will be sucked in and ignited. Or the total volume of all the cylinders. So a 5.0L V8 will have 8 cylinders that are each 0.625L

That 5.7 is the total of all cylinders. And no, that doesn't mean the whole thing gets filled with fuel. It gets a tiny bit of a fuel and the rest is filled with air. You can't have an explosion without air. And the more cool air you stuff in a cylinder, the bigger the explosion. That's where turbo and supercharges come in to play

Optimum air fuel ratio for a naturally aspirated motor is 14.7 parts air to 1 part gasoline.
The cylinder does not fill full of liquid gasoline on each stroke.
