This guy had a knack for having ridiculously attractive female friends. His plan was and still is 100% to jump the friend zone (even if he won't admit). He knew he couldn't just ask these girls out right away because he was just not a super attractive dude. I'm convinced that one day he will somehow make the jump, and we will be so damn proud of him at his wedding.

I'd be a little skeptical unless he was basically the only guy in the class with a good grade and she was struggling. I'd kind of be a little hesitant, but I wouldn't really worry too much about it.
