Working offshore I initially appreciated the bed rail on the top bunk. After the first hitch I didn't want or need it anymore.

There was one place where it was a four bed high bunk bed. You damn right I want a rail on the 3rd and 4th levels.

I slept in a loft for a long arse time in college. No rail. Never fell out sober or drunk, including romping around with sloots.

Gotta leave enough clearance for hook up seks. A popcorn ceiling will shred your arse.

My freshman year roommate rolled out of his lofted bed while trying to answer the phone early in the morning. He landed on the corner of a dry erase board that he had leaned up against his desk. That bitch took a triangle shaped chunk of skin out of his hip and took 9 stitches to close.

Thankfully the beds in Herget were 8 inches off the ground.

I still own bunk beds and the upper bunk does have a rail. It's reinforced with zip-ties, in fact. Unless you sleep up there every night (and no one does), you're likely to forget where you are and roll right off.

This is worse than when my mom found a dip can under my bed when I was 14 and told my dad she wanted to put me in rehab. Fortunately my dad was a reasonable man and laughed in her face. Men need to keep their women toned the frick down more these days.

I’ve had some nights offshore that made me glad there was a rail.
