That's the worst case scenario. The destruction could be limited to our galaxy.

See there's the mistake in the changing past by traveling from present.

If you change the past, then the present you departed from would no longer exist, probably making yourself not exist.

So, how can one change the past if one does not exist?

The world is a very delicate place and any of us could make an historical difference if sent back in time with 2021 knowledge. It may or may not be for the best, though, even if your intentions are good.

Becoming a Ford or Rockefeller, killing Hitler, saving Kennedy, or preventing 9/11 might nudge the world into worse long term scenarios. You would never really know the ultimate outcome of your intervention.

I also think it's funny that in the Back to the Future version of time travel, one huge event only makes minor changes to reality.

George McFly isn't important on the world stage. He's just a popular author within a certain genre.

The world wouldn't be all that different if Tom Clancy or Vince Flynn never took up writing - only their immediate family would be affected.

I would contact young Art Bell and tell him all about my time travels.

How far back we talking? According to Wikipedia the cheeseburger showed up around 1934. Send me back anywhere prior to that and I’m making the worlds first bacon double cheeseburger and becoming a millionaire for it. Also putting America on the fast track for obesity even quicker.

Go to the the founding fathers and discourage them from allowing slavery in the USA...

I would go to the Jefferson Parish council and discourage them from building all F2 building complexes in the parish...

You'll need to go back a little further.

Biff got a copy of the sports almanac and made loads of bets. The only change to the world was that he turned his city into a slum and married Marty's mom. Someone who gets that rich would have a huge impact on the world. Just my impression of things.

We didn't see a bird's eye view of 1985a, just what happened to the protagonists.

There was a brief mention of Nixon getting a fifth term so Biff must have had some global impact. But the movie was centered on Hill Valley.

Thinking about trying to stop Hitler...Could you convince anyone that this dude was going to kill millions of Jews? It's so terrible that I think it would be impossible to get someone that could actually do something about it to believe you.

It would be impossible to convince anyone that killing an infant was a righteous thing and the time traveler explanatioon would just affirm that you're crazy. So if you did smother baby Adolf with a pillow, you would have to be prepared to accept the consequences, assuming you can't hop back into your time machine.

And if your aim was to make the 20th century a little less murderous, you'd be better off smothering baby Lenin.

In all honesty, and as bad as it sounds, this may not be the best move. The amount of technological advancement that came out of WW2 is astronomical. tRant may even cease to exist

This is true, but if you are obscenely rich, you aren't likely to hang around in your hometown and marry your loser high school crush.

You're also probably going to be rubbing shoulders with some of the world elites no matter how annoying a butthead you are.

And what is the impact of this guy who always bets right? People would be betting on his bets.

Yeah, all that technological advancement has made us so much better as a whole...
