The key is just to own a place and then you can come and go whenever you please. You also don't have to sleep in a bed someone else jizzed in last night.

Got back to our room from eating on Friday around 10:30 and some retard pulled the dang fire alarm. Instead of carrying the kids up 8 flights of stairs to leave the next morning we packed our stuff and left at midnight. Might be the only way I travel from now on. Zero traffic on the interstate and didn’t have any traffic from Panama City until I got back to Baton Rouge at 5 that morning.

I’ve started leaving (and leaving for) my destination at a ridiculous early time. We all shower and pack up the night before, then leave between 2-4 am depending on drive time to destination or home.

Started this on Disney trips from Mobile area. Leave at 3 am, get to Live Oak or Lake City area around breakfast time and stop and eat and let everyone else wake up. Get back on road by 9 and be at resort nd checked in and unpacked by lunch. Eat and start the day.

This lets you still have ,ost of a day to do the things you come on vacation to do. It’s even better on the way home. You’re home, unpacked and ready for lunch and have the whole day to relax before going back to work the next day. It’s sucks for me because I’m up a long time and do 90% of the driving but it eliminates two full wasted days on a week long vacation just driving. Works for Gatlinburg as well.

Gatlinburg is what made me start this. Took three and a half hours to get from Gatlinburg to the interstate one time and I said NEVER again.

If you’re leaving on a Sunday, your choices are:

Leave in time to get to the Mobile tunnel by 9am. Maybe even 8 on a holiday weekend

Get stuck in traffic for a couple extra hours

Leave at 6-7pm

This would never work for my family. No way my wife would actually sleep in the car. My kids might catch a catnap here and there but it seems everyone would be a zombie when you get to the destination.

Leave early man or you'll be in traffic like a motherfricker. Especially if you have to drive through Baldwin County and Mobile.

I don’t know why everybody panics with the trip back home. It’s a long 350 miles for me. Just go ahead and clear my schedule for the day

For those of you worrying about me I made it. Left around 2:00 and just got home.

They should have a law that the interstate must be minimum 3 lanes. Went to Buccees twice.

Good night.

Apparently the correct answer was 7:15 p.m. sunday night. i watched the map app until drive time dropped from 4 hours 32 min to 4 hours 8 minutes from the east end of perdido to capital heights. Traffic was a dream. no yellows or reds at any point, and rarely had to get out of cruise at 75 mph. One stop at Gulfport Loves to refuel at $2.36 and pee, and i made it home at 11:25.

My children were asleep by the end of the driveway and my wife usually not long after. When she doesn’t have traffic to panic about (gasping at brake lights a mile ahead) she gets bored and sleeps a bunch too. I on the other hand have to put Pandora on my phone with earphones and blast hair metal rock music. Cruise then becomes an absolute necessity as I’ll get to driving way too fast when some songs come on.
