I leave at 10PM, drive through the night and am at my front door in Katy TX at 6AM
there is no traffic, no big trucks and plenty of 24hr truck stops for coffee
everybody just goes to sleep in the car and wakes up in houston
been doing that from 30A and Orange Beach for years

left destin today at 8:40am. got to jackson at 2:30. got off in spanish fort and took the bridge. a few slowdowns but have seen it worse

Whenever I was coming back from vacation I would leave around seven in the morning. That way you beat most of the traffic going through Mobile.

Last time we went to Orange Beach I got up at 5 and went down to load the car. Beat the heat and the 10000 people trying to use the elevator.
There were 6 other dads doing the same thing. We all gave the nod, acknowledging our mastery of the beach egress.

Its a weird day. Most beach rentals are sat check in/out. But with the 4th being on friday and usual sunday interstate traffic its a tough call.
Just pack the car tonight and leave before 6am and i think you are good.
