Yeah but private schools should be a personal choice of the parents, an option....not a necessity like it is in BR.

Its amazing how many people have never lived outside of LA and don't realize how much better it is.

But to argue that LA is better than a place like Texas or many other states in the country for thay matter, when the factual evidence is so clearly contradictory: education, government, economy, health, scenery/water ways, pollution/litter, infrastructure, & more is completely idiotic.
"Better" is a subjective word in this regard. Your personal quality of life has different variables than someone else's.

Correct. If you're big city type, LA doesn't have a whole lot to offer. If you're a rural outdoorsman, there are few states that offer the diversity and quality that LA has

Conversely, I've lived in 6 states and visited 47, yet no one seems to care that I find Louisiana to be the most enjoyable place to live in America.

Shreveport. It's the closest thing to Texas you can get in Louisiana.

Friend of mine has lived all her life in BR. She is moving out of state soon cause her husband got an amazing job offer elsewhere. This is the same girl that freaked out when I left LA 10 years ago("but your family is here! How can you not live by your family!"). It's gonna be a huge culture shock to her but they are actually very excited about it. She just doesn't feel like she wants to raise a family in BR anymore. Said BR just gets worse every year in her opinion.
She's especially excited about not having to spend $$$ on private school for her kids. Where she is moving to has amazing public schools and she is just floored at the concept of having that option as a parent

Somewhere in West Baton Rouge parish. Its close to Baton Rouge, the school system there is pretty good, you can get to lafayette in about 45min to an hr, New Orleans in a little over 1.5hrs, Hammond in about 50 mins.

Right. At some point in life for many people, the big city ceases to be a comfortable existence. This usually happens when you become more settled. Not for all, but for many.

My first choice:
47 feet above sea level and I like the college town atmosphere.
I like that its a teacher's college so there are lots of women.
the southern parishes have bigger cities and more to do, but they are going to be Katrina'd every 5 or 10 years.
if you are thinking about big city culture, try Chicago.
you get every form of culture known to man, pro sports, Big Ten, and water activities on the lake. Live on the north shore.

Ugh! She could move 6 miles outside of Baton Rouge and have amazing free schools.
Everyone is so full of shite with school rankings.
All of the school districts where parents have real jobs have better schools. It's not funding and teachers it's the students and parents that decide the best schools.
Peachtree city Ga had the best school in the state but was only 10 miles from the hood. Some hood parents started sending their kids there, now all of a sudden it's not a top school? Thought it was all about the funding and the teachers? Oh wait, that part stayed the same.

Every time you consider moving back to that shite stain, punch yourself in the dick. It will work out better for you in the long run

Are there any areas that have decent schools, low crime, and realistic home/land prices?
Not all at the same time.
If I did not have kids and could afford it, I'd live in Uptown New Orleans. If I can't afford it, I probably live in downtown BR.
If I have kids and can afford it, I'm living along the lake in Mandeville. If I'm not quite that big of a baller, I'm living in Lafayette or Covington.
Where to live in Louisiana always depends on 3 things:
Do you have kids?
Where is your job?
How much can you afford to spend on a house?

She has lived in BR all her life...I think she knows more about BR schools than you(who admitted you are not even from BR).
It's not even just the schools though. She and her husband are no longer happy living in BR and LA in general.

Someone blows up your argument so your change the subject.
I went to high school and college in Baton Rouge, I traveled the world and the nation and moved back. Everyone "from" here wants to hate on it, fine. Promise I've been to more cities than any hater, probably ten times more. I find Louisiana to be my favorite place to live in America, guess I'm wrong. Everyone continue on bashing it.

How have I changed the subject? I've been talking about the lack of good public school options since my first post in this thread.

Nah, just your opinion. Just like others that don't share that opinion.

Y'all are arguing with a guy who suggesting living in Beaumont & Tyler. I'd rather drown in urine than live in either of those two places.
