I travel to Texas nearly monthly for work. I know it as well as you do, as I travel the ENTIRE state. You're bragging about the bbq, but there's a chain in Ga where I can get equal or better from a drive thru. Memphis Bbq is inarguably better than Tx. You're just defending your homestate whereas I'm unbiased on the subject. Yes I've been to the places in Austin where u have to wait in line for the Bbq.

I've lived in Houston and Fort Worth.

It's a great state with lots of money, I get it. I just prefer the soulful fullfulling environment in La. People in Texas generally their favorite thing in life is the fact they're from Texas. I realize the culture you're raised in; but you're in a Lousiana thread incessantly talking about Texas and bashing La. Save that for a Texas thread.

You talk about La being a shithole, but I remind you, I've traveled all of Texas and can go toe to toe with you on dirty unappealing areas of both states.

I honestly thought Louisiana sucked until I moved to New Orleans.

Born and raised in Baton Rouge and love the state and LSU with all of my heart.

But, let's be real here: the level of CONSISTENT litter and garbage in Louisiana is unparalleled. Country roads in La. are covered in garbage. That's not the case in Texas. Not trying to be a homer, just honest.

Every time I'm back home, I'm disgusted by the litter. It's also the first thing Mrs. Crickets mentioned on her first visit to La. many moons ago. It really is mind boggling.

any part of Texas for that matter will never be worse than 95% of the areas you cite as better in Louisiana.

Wanna know how I know you haven't been to all parts of both states?

I've lived in Texas 3 times and Lousiana two times. As well as Maryland, Illinois, Virginia, Georgia. You're blinded by love of your Homestate. Having a big city job, I thought I would never return to Louisiana but when visiting, I found myself being jealous of people who got to live here everyday. That's when I decided to move here now that I own my business and can live wherever I chose.

Ironically, this is what you're doing about being in/from Louisiana.

Let me be clear: I love a good collection of parts of Louisiana. I grew up here (but also have my roots in Texas). I've got family here (only reason I'm here now). I intend to visit often once I do move out again.

But to argue that LA is better than a place like Texas or many other states in the country for thay matter, when the factual evidence is so clearly contradictory: education, government, economy, health, scenery/water ways, pollution/litter, infrastructure, & more is completely idiotic.

Same. Crazy how you never really noticed it as much when you lived in LA. Or you just accepted it as normal. One of the first things my now husband commented on when I brought him to LA to meet my family was how much litter he noticed. Also....others I know not from LA that have visited have made similar comments.

I drive over 50,000 miles a year and lately canvassing Louisiana weekly. Your claim of this being statewide is inaccurate. I see people cleaning the sides of the road constantly. Just seems like I would have noticed this if it was systemic.

Where was the road littered? Seems like something one trash crew could take care of in an afternoon.

I can't stand it. You can be in a seemingly pristine area and yep, there is someone's bullshite trash/litter.

A simple Google search shows that NOLA tourism is now back to what it WAS pre-Katrina.

Bravo.

You think people will quit using oil products soon? I remember when the rest of the country was financially fricked due to the Great Recession, and we didn't miss a beat here. Things happen in cycles, and this is our turn

It is a pretty big deal. Also, the Port is doing very well. The question is, where does the money go? We all know. Our politics are the worst. No argument from me.

this is what you're doing about being in/from Louisiana.

Yes, Texas has 5 times the population and 5 times the tax base. Thus, would be overall better than the 5 times smaller state.

I was not born in Louisiana, then my childhood was in Fort Worth. I've spent more of my life outside Louisana than in it.

What I'm saying, if you'll take the time to read it, is that:
-I've been all over America
-I've lived in Texas and 5 other states
-the people and overall feeling I get being in Louisiana is unmatched. It's a special place, a true gem of America. To me it's the greatest state in the union despite it's shortcomings.

It's not bias, everywhere in America had a chance to prove they were better. Guess I don't value the cleanliness of sides of roads and who has better schools in the hood.

My kids attend a spectacular, yet inexpensive, private school and Baton Rouge is my favorite city in America. I'm here by choice and love it everyday.

At the end of the day, more power to you.

So long as you know you're in the minority, not necessarily wrong, then "to each his own".

But given that you 100% have the choice & you choose to remain here, to me at least, is an indication of something more to be discovered about you/your mentality.
