Issuing a million shares at $2 each or so might work because then a lot of posters, even college kids, could buy in and it would give them incentive to tell everyone about the site and get their friends and family to join and actively post.

It isn't worth what the traffic indicates. I have done a lot of M&A work on websites and I can tell you there is not much recurring revenue from this site. Most of the ads are feed ads which tells me Chicken is not out there selling ads to businesses that may be interested in paying a higher cpm for the target audience.
It does have a loyal site traffic though which is a definite positive. Plus the traffic responds to prompts if it hits a spot (for example I helped launch a website and asked for feedback and could see the S. LA traffic spike i about 20 minutes).
I would guess it is high six figures to someone. To up the value he would need more original content and a wider application. For example if he had a board like this for every school in the SEC with beat "writers" at each school.
