For a good time, Sewanee
For an education, Annapolis

Academically, they are all OK, but some offer majors that others don't, so that should be a consideration. But, being a freshman can be tough. If he has a good group of friends, he might consider going where he can hang with at least one of them. I've seen cases where a freshman knows nobody on campus, finds a new group to hang with, and they aren't who he should be around.

Would be a toss up between LSU and Ole Miss.

Prob Moo State. Good old country boy school would fit me best.

I’d feel safer with her being 8.5 hrs away, in Arky, compared to only 4 hrs away in BR. I’m die hard LSU, but BR is turning into a cluster frick/crap hole.
Son got accepted at Arkansas, loved the school, town, and surrounding area in NW Arkansas. However, he got full ride to LA Tech in engineering. While not NW Arkansas, Ruston is a great little town, and he loves the engineering dept at Tech. We have no regrets. He never considered LSU b/c of, well Baton Rouge. He said he couldn't have been paid to live there. It's not the same place I lived in 35 years ago.

Where you go other than an Ivy League doesn't matter.
That is an outdated view, considering that MIT, Stanford, Cal Tech, Duke, Hopkins, Northwestern, and U of Chicago are all non-Ivy schools, and their degrees definitely mean something more than butt frick tech.

Oxford has grown and changed a ton but it was awesome for college 18 years ago

It pains me to say this but Texas A&M is the best engineering school in the South.

It would be out of LSU and Ole Miss, Ole Miss does have a pretty good engineering department and I like the "small college town" aspect you have with Ole Miss or Auburn, but because I am too rooted (in terms of sports, etc) into LSU I would go with LSU.. That is the 17 year old me when I was 17, but if I was a 17 year old today, it might be different.

I’d say LSU. I wanted to have fun, party, see the teams win.
Yeah, but you gotta live in Baton Rouge

Eh, don't get in a rush, 17 you got plenty of life left to figure things out.

If I were choosing it would be LSU, if I was considering my children, no one goes to Baton Rouge before their junior year.

Hawaii. Don’t understand why they don’t get the best athletes.

Go to Michigan State, do the packaging engineer program, bang a dozen hotties, marry one of them, and get a great job at the end of it.
