I've never come across this. I work for a small company so no one in my company would do this without getting ridiculed constantly. But 90% of the emails I deal with are from other companies and I've never seen this.

When the SJW wave was at its peak, our employer asked that we add pronouns to the end of our names on Zoom. That way anyone who is trans will not be called by the wrong pronoun.

That lasted all of 2 weeks

It seems that young people are standardizing around "they/them" as a non-offensive default.

This is unfortunate; it's more difficult to parse a sentence in which all the third person pronouns are plural.

This is the tendency of languages over time- they simplify. There are languages that avoid this, but it takes discipline. Having a robust philological tradition helps; English is hamstrung in this area by the veneration of Shakespeare, whose language resembles nothing contemporary.

In Arabic, the standard written language is identical to the way Muhammad wrote the Quran, and I think that's good. This decay that people (e.g. the OED) claim is inevitable really isn't.

Can you give an example? I have no idea what you’re talking about out.

Just an FYI... whether you’d get fired or not, if you want to be taken seriously and promoted regularly, don’t bring non directly related work stuff to work.

I saw my first one like below a few weeks ago

We decided to take our new team member out for drinks as a "welcome to the team". That new team member opened up our discussion that night with this question: "So what is your preferred pronoun?".

It was funnier in person, especially given the company - two burly bald white guys that are built like the former football players that we are.
