Simply having a university doesn't make a city a college town. Just about every major metropolitan area in the US would qualify as a college town. I've been told that Arizona State is a commuter campus, so I don't think Tempe would really qualify in that respect anyway.

For real? My impression of a lot of Montana is that it was kind of dumpy. I thought Bozeman sucked.
I'd go...
Santa Barbara
Chapel Hill
Madison
Bloomington, IN is a pretty cool little town. Eugene is cool, too.

Savannah, GA
Charleston, SC
Oxford, MS
I guess you could say I like old school southern towns.

Since we are in the process of buying a second home in Golden, CO, I'll say Boulder. We love the area.

Charleston, South Carolina
Burbank, California
Although neither are really "college towns"
ETA: Chapel Hill is really nice too.

I should have moved to Colorado years ago. Now I'm sure it's too overpriced.

Some of these are huge cities. Wouldn't college town be a town or city that only exists/thrives because the college or university is there? Clemson may be the only town named after the school. Chapel Hill and Athens would be a nice place to settle in.

Plus Arizona State is in Phoenix, that would be like calling New Orleans or Atlanta college towns.

Easy for me. Lake Tahoe Community College.

I'll pick Juneau (shocker.) Views from campus are awesome.

Good. One fewer tourist to deal with.

Different strokes, I suppose. Western Montana is awesome.

I haven't seen much of it, mainly just from the highway. Spent much more time in the West and think it's pretty awesome.

And over into Idaho, yeah...it's awesome. Weather is fairly mild compared to the Upper Midwest too.
