If you had a choice. Which time period in the United States would you prefer at 18?

I was born in the early 80s so I grew up in the 90s. I would've loved to have turned 18 in the mid-70s. Late enough to avoid the Civil Rights movement and Vietnam but early enough to have truly enjoyed the amazing music in the 70s and 80s.

Late 50s- early 60s. If you were a young white dude, it was freedom, prosperity, and fun. After the 50s conformity but before the late 60s hippie shite.
Obviously a different experience for people of other races.

Born in 84. Not sure you can beat that. Really anyone born between 1975-1985 had it made

Exactly. I listen to a lot of music from the 70s and 80s but yeah I didn't get to experience any of it live.

Besides music though being able to be an adult in the 80s and 90s when the economy was booming and you could still largely live a middle class lifestyle on one income. And live a good portion of my adult life pre-internet and pre-smart phones when life was simpler.

Maybe ‘62-‘65 but 1980 was damn good with Reagan at the helm, country still had pride in itself, drinking age was 18.

Depends on several factors, one being location.

If it's BR, I would say 1980s.

I wouldn't say it came without discomfort or fear, but imagine being 18 in 1942 and having never traveled outside the county/parish you live in. All of a sudden you're on your way to Cali then Hawaii.

We could all be on a plane to Hawaii tomorrow if we wanted to. It wasn't that way in 1942. Then coming back in 45 to the greatest economy the world had ever seen. That had to be one hell of a time to be alive.

Was 18 in 1989 and would not change that for anything.

However, I would prefer to be 50 in like 1952.

I have said before that if i were 18 in the early/mid 70’s that i have no doubt that i would have been involved with, or been one of the cocaine cowboys.

Probably would not be here today if so…..

1970, growing up in the 80s would be dope

ETA: There are things I'd want to experience in every year in history, except maybe Black Plague

The early 90s would mean I would have gotten to be a teenager in the 80s, seems like it would have been cool.

So just about 10-12 years earlier

I was in my prime teens years during the 80s. Turned 18 in 1991 and would still choose this time period to experience it all over again. If I had to chose a new era of time I’d say the 50s with sock hops.

in the '80s people didn't say things would be "dope", so yes it was a great time
