i have one ex that things probably would have worked out with and we would have been happy together. she's still beautiful and seems like a great person.
we just went to different schools and it didn't work out.
in a cruel twist of fate, my wife ended up a friend of my ex's best friend in HS through coincidence. Their mutual friend was getting married and my wife and the ex somehow ended up at the bachelorette party they struck up a friendship. I ran into them at the end and saw them sitting together drinking at a table alone and lost my shite.
we just went to different schools and it didn't work out.

what was crazy is that my wife didn't know it was my long time GF from HS till i got there.
i was like... so her name is XXX and she went to HS with YYY. how did you not figure this out?

He would likely jump at the chance so I would give him another chance. We were together almost 2 decades and had a child together. He has never gotten over me, has never married, had a vasectomy so that he would never have another child with any other woman.
He still calls me and tells me that he will never love another woman the way he loves me. I always wonder that if in a decade or so that fate will intervene.

Ok, so there is one final twist to the story. She told me that over the years she has looked at my FB. I guess it was her way of keeping tabs. Not going to lie, I have also looked at hers every now and then. One fine woman...and still is.
So...she has a son who looks to be nine or so. We haven't discussed that yet, as that's a face to face conversation. However, there are some similarities.

a bit. ex and i didn't end "well." she was a stud BB player and had a scholarship to play at our local school. i was headed to A&M and turned down a full ride because she wanted me to stay. then she got another scholarship and said she still didn't want a long distance relationship and left.
i was a dumb HS kid and was kinda beta bitch about the whole thing.
after the initial weirdness it was fine. they danced together at the wedding the next night.
