LINK

This is a CBS News story about a bunch of college kids at Univ of Miami Ohio. Cops showed up to break up their party.

quote:

But after scanning the ID of one of the students who lives in the house, he saw a note on his computer that the student tested positive for COVID-19 just one week prior.

They buried this little tidbit in the middle of the story.

So, government is now linking our medical records to our driver licenses?

Because if you want people to stop getting tested, this is how you get them to stop getting tested.

But you know, we just have to flatten the curve.

The government has zero right to dictate legal behavior in private homes.

I vaguely remember something in the constitution about the rights of people to peacefully assemble. But maybe that doesn't apply if they might get sick?

Police fined six men — five who live in the house and one visitor — $500 each. "This particular case is egregious, but I think for the most part, by in large, the students have been very well behaved," Lt. Lara Fening with the Oxford Police Department told CBS News affiliate WKRC.

$500 fine for being a college student in private property. What the duck is wrong with this country?

If I were trump, I’d pay the fines just to rustle the jimmies.

This is all about control, nothing else.

What do you expect? Most folks are being tested by a government subsidized and provided test and individuals.

Aren’t medical records supposed to be private?

If so, that’s an insane HIPPA violation.

There can be emergency exceptions

And since the sheep of this country lets fear affect their decisions and lets the government be their daddy...

the patriot act + "emergency powers" = authoritarian state

Snowden tried to warn us. This isn't a Fauci trick either so please, no one even mention his name. It's an NSA flick of the switch with a lot of other tentacles

Government gonna government. Be corrupt, law-breaking assholes. Those kids have the right to keep their medical records private and should not have any interference, even if sick. This fricking country can kiss my fricking arse with the way the act.

I’d imagine it was linked to his student ID instead of his DL. Still ridiculous.
