I agree. It’s crazy how parents think they should beg other people to pay for their kids activities. People have no shame nowadays.

Is it begging if it’s a raffle, numbers board with a cash prize for a football game, or a bake sale? Just curious or is this thread about the teams asking for donations at the corner of intersections?

I wouldn't invite them inside for AC and some lemonade. I know the rules of society.

Straight up donation, no.
Sell me some cookies or brownies, hell yes.

Or raffle, food, football board, something.

I actually looked forward to those discount cards teams would sell that had local restaurants listed where i could get a free fries or drink, or half of a second sandwich, half off a pizza, BOGO deals.

There’s a gas station by my house that every Saturday morning for the past 4 months. Theres a group of Kayden’s,Jaxxton’s and Kayleigh’s doing a car wash, right by LaSalle park.
It’s amazing to me that they needed that many car wash saturdays to afford a trip to Cooperstown.
Lots of leg tats

Are you sure they weren’t out there collecting money to get some new Tennessee pitchers?

I’m glad the neighborhood Walmart shut down solicitors. Those recovery missions used to be out there hawking all kinds of shite. Made it uncomfortable.

It’s when the parents of these kids who are acquaintances of yours hit you up and you not only feel obligated to give, but to also act like you’re interested.

If you don’t want to mitigate contagions (no vax), in so doing why would you force others to fill your gap?

Kidding. You are the anti vax dude I think (hope).

In the 80’s, we used to have a big garage sale in a shopping center parking lot to raise money for our team. It raised a decent chunk every year and it was fun. It was fun until I was walking through the parking lot and started boosting some sweet chrome caps and my dad saw me. Then it wasn’t so much fun.

Call me selfish, but why would I pay toward some other kid's sports team when I had my own kids to pay for!? If you can't afford to pay for your own damn kids team, then don't put them in anything or make a few personal sacrifices to pay for your kid!
