I hunted on the property in NC where much of the movie was filmed. The landowner told me that Mel Gibson was a pig for the most part. Said he would just drop his trousers anywhere anytime and take a piss, regardless of who was on or around set. He also said the fellow who played the bad guy was the nicest person you'd ever want to meet.
Finally, he said he wound up suing the studio because for a particular scene in the woods, they cut several of his oaks down without permission. Said he would never allow another movie to be shot on his property again.

I think the Patriots over reacted. We would have be fine under British rule. They were pissed because of taxes, it is not like we don't have that issue now.
