If you could work from home and live wherever you want, would you move?

...and to where would you move?

I’ve been working from home fulltime for 2 years and would love to move. My wife, however, has an aversion to change...despite the fact that her employer lets people work remotely rather than leave the company if they move away.

We have about $180K equity in our home, so we could potentially pay cash for a home in a lot of locations. If not a full payoff, we could set ourselves up nicely with a low mortgage.

I feel like I’m wasting a huge opportunity at a new adventure. I would love to live near the gulf for a while to fish on the reg. Maybe Apalachicola, FL.

I grew up not far from here and miss it everyday.

You will not regret this move, imo.

Take advantage of it. I wish I had down Radiology and you can live anywhere in the world and read CTs.

How is this even a question?

ETA: I would go to Tx or Fl just for the tax breaks. If the perfect situation, I would go to Healdsburg CA, but frick living in CA right now.

Depends on how much money I’m making. It money is no object, I’m getting a house by the beach in Southern California.

My career has a lot of remote work opportunities. It's something I'm considering when my daughter finishes school. My wife's career is another story. She's in a customer facing job where remote work is almost nonexistent. This means we'd probably have to live in at least a mid sized city.

I'd prefer to live in Asheville, Idaho, Montana, Colorado etc. Somewhere with cooler weather and mountains.

I've thought about doing this. I probably could, but it would kill a pretty realistic chance of becoming a VP or CIO instead of just an engineer.

I think I'd go to Wyoming.

If you're picking something on the Gulf Coast, how close do you want to be do a decent size city. Pensacola or Fort Meyers. Key West if you can afford it

But in all seriousness, I’d move to Montana in a heartbeat...

Ever time I watch the news and see stories about NO cultcha, I always tell my wife I’m ready to move there..

I love FL. Minutes from the Gulf, quiet, very different from Baton Rouge, where I was raised. Went kayaking this morning, was awesome.

ETA: After our trip to Jackson Hole, WY, my SO wants a ranchette
