I would do Washington, D.C. or San Francisco. Both are absolutely gorgeous this time of year.

Asheville is awesome. You could spend a day or two at Biltmore by itself. Then you can rent a car (or motorcycle) and hit the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are amazing restaurants in Asheville, and fantastic music in the bars at night. It is a very cool town.
