I work with a guy that is retiring at 55 to move to the Phillipines. He has some family land there so that helps, but he says he plans on living lavishly on $500 per month.

I want to do something like that too.

I would hope so. Most of that place is a giant shithole

I’m not sure if there’s anywhere else if you value the same freedoms.

Scary to think that leftists have already pretty much fricked up the rest of the globe in one way or another.

When you say ‘most’, im guessing you never made it out of Manila or some of the bigger cities ? There are over 7,000 islands in the Philippines, with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.. so ‘most’ of it is quite nice, but yeah the cities can be worse than Baton Rouge .

But I feel like it's getting lost in here that we'd be getting old in these other places. Not being 21 and full of life. If you could move to any county in the worlds "when you’re 65" because eventually, we're all going to get old in these other places.

2021 East Baton Rouge Parish 165 homicides, Population: 436061
Homicide Rate: 38.99 per 100K

Belize 2020 Homicide Rate (last provided): 24.33 per 100K

Belize is a freaking utopia compared to EBR

Lived there 6 years. Its California on steroids with terrible weather. There is no real practical alternative to the US in the developed world; in the developing world, you'd have to stick very close to areas developed for foreign visitors or development.

I s a is the best country on the planet

People talk about moving t elsewhere but they conveniently ignore the socialist programs in some of those other places. Europe? Costa Rica? Brazil? Ha. All socialist havens and the latter 2 are arbitrary in their ways. They make the rules up as they go.
And good luck in court. Guilty until proven innocent

Hate America all you want but it’s the the best country on the planet.

It’s a shame that there is not truly a libertarian country out there. Singapore is great for financial freedom but crappy for personal freedom. I’d still say USA on top despite all the liberals, then Italy in second , then Switzerland in third.

Lot of expats from Venezuela move to Chile on account of the economy. It's crazy.

Seeing a supermarket with bread, milk, and meat in it on the same day is high living for a Venezuelan.
