Wouldn't leave my farm here in Virginia, unless I could have a similar place near one of these two places:

- Sedona Az (great balance of hiking, mtbiking, scenery, wx, closeness to some metro areas)

- Salida, Co (add whitewater to the above, and more snow, but not nearly as much as most of the other western places mentioned on this thread)

Somewhere in Scandinavia.

Preferably Norway. I want to be on the coast in a colder environment.

Southern part of Chile wouldn't be bad either.

I have also given N.C. some serious thought for reasons you stated------4 true seasons and not just 5 months of heat/humidity and misery followed by about 7 months of cool/mildly cold weather.

I've also considered Arkansas somewhere in the Ozarks since land is cheaper as opposed to N.C.

I really want to be away from the hurricane/tropical storm threat of living in S.E. La.

Is money truly isn’t a factor … there’s endless supplies of it, then New Orleans.

Coeur d'Alene is northern Idaho and the coldest month of the year has average highs of 36 and lows of 26.

You do realize that is cold right? This is not Denver 37 and sunny weather, this is 37 and cloudy for 4-5 months straight. Coeur d'Alene, Missoula, Whitefish and all that area get the Seattle gloom. They can go 60 days without seeing the sun. Summer is paradise but short lived.

It's tolerable cold to me. I've spent 50% of 2 winters in Cleveland which is worse. That weather wouldn't bother me at all.
